GREENSBORO, NC - The Hickory Crawdads were edged by the Greensboro Grasshoppers, 4-2, before 7,193 fans at NewBridge Bank Park on Saturday night. LHP Miguel De Los Santos struck out 10 batters through five innings in his first start as a Crawdad.

Hickory (23-17, 63-47) struck first against Greensboro starter RHP Erick Carrillo in the top of the first. 2B Travis Adair led off with a single and quickly advanced all the way to third on a 3B Joe Bonadonna double. One out later, RF Jared Prince ripped an RBI single to left, plating Adair and putting the 'Dads up, 1-0.

The Grasshoppers (21-20, 53-58) came back with a pair in the bottom of the third. With runners at second and third and two away, CF Jeff Corsaletti placed a bloop single just out of the reach of SS Edwin Garcia in shallow center to score two and make it a 2-1 Greensboro advantage.

The Crawdads then responded with a solo home run from C Leonel De Los Santos in the top of the fifth, tying it at 2-2. However, Greensboro came back with a solo shot of its own from LF Kyle Jensen against RHP Matt Thompson (8-8) in the bottom of the sixth to retake the lead, 3-2.

Thompson leads the league with 116 strikeouts after racking up five more in three relief innings. Greensboro, though, plated another run against Thompson in the bottom of the eighth, accounting for the 4-2 final.

LHP Ramon Benjamin (3-1) worked two relief innings to record the win for Greensboro, while RHP Alejandro Ramos pitched the ninth for the save.
