Three West Virginia players had four runs batted in as the Power won a slugfest over the Lexington Legends 17-9 Monday night in Charleston.

Andy Vasquez, who hit two homers, Justin Howard and Elias Diaz each had four RBI as the Power collected 17 hits.

Leading 3-2 in the middle of the fourth inning, West Virginia appeared to put the game away with eight runs on nine hits in the bottom of the fourth. A double by Howard, a bunt single by Dan Grovatt, and a pop fly single by Diaz produced one run. After Eric Avila's sacrifice fly brought home Grovatt, Justin Bencsko's bunt hit moved Diaz to second. Drew Maggi doubled, scoring Diaz and moving Bencsko to third. Gabriel Garcia relieved starter Carlos Quevedo, but was greeted with a three-run homer by Vasquez, and West Virginia had a 9-2 lead. Mel Rojas singled and advanced to third on a double by Chase Lyles. Howard hit his second double of the inning, scoring Rojas and Lyles to make the score 11-2.

The Legends began a comeback in the sixth when Telvin Nash walked and Emilio King homered. King, who was four-for-five in the game, had been named South Atlantic League Player of the Week earlier in the day after going 15-for-27 in seven games from August 22-28.

Delino DeShields Jr. led off the top of the seventh with a home run for Lexington, and after Ben Orloff grounded out, Domingo Santana homered, making the score 11-4. It was Santana's fifth home run in 12 games with the Legends since being acquired from the Philadelphia organization in a trade. After Nash walked, Mike Kvasnicka flied out to deep center field for the second out, but King and Ben Heath singled, loading the bases. A wild pitch allowed Nash to score. Bryce Lane walked, loading the bases again, and Tyler Burnett singled home two runs and took second on a throw to the plate. DeShields walked, and Orloff hit a long fly to left center that might have cleared the bases and put Lexington in front, but Bencsko made a running catch to end the inning.

The Power answered with six runs in the bottom of the seventh. Avila drew a walk from Legends reliever Brad Dydalewicz. Bencsko sacrificed him to second. Maggi reached on an error by Orloff at shortstop as Avila took third. A wild pitch allowed Avila to score as Maggi moved to second, and after Vasquez walked, a balk moved the runners to second and third. Rojas flied out to left, but Lyles walked, and Dydalewicz was relieved by Brian Streilein. Howard singled, scoring two runs, and Grovatt hit a ground-rule double, scoring Lyles and advancing Howard to third. Diaz then doubled down the line in right field, bringing home Howard and Grovatt to close out the scoring.

Power starter Eliecer Navarro (4-0) pitched the first five innings and got the win. Legends' starter Carlos Quevedo (8-6) was the losing pitcher. He worked the first three and one-third innings. West Virginia has won three of the first four games of the series, which concludes Tuesday night. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
