Rome Emperors News Release
Rome, GA - The Rome Braves broke ground on the new Miracle Field this morning at State Mutual Stadium. The facility will be constructed in accordance with Miracle Field standards to allow all children, regardless of their abilities, to play the game of baseball. The specialized field will made of latex free rubber and the project includes dugouts, restrooms, concessions stand, bleachers, and a covered pavilion.
The field will be located on the west side of State Mutual Stadium and is made possible by the Rome Braves, Atlanta Braves foundation, and Founding Friends. "This is a very exciting day for the entire Braves organization and all of Rome and Floyd County to be able to provide a facility for all to be able to play the game of baseball," says Rome Braves General Manager Michael Dunn. "It's one of the most gratifying and rewarding contributions we can make to our community."
The complex is scheduled to hold approximately eight games a week during the spring and fall, along with a short summer and winter schedule. The Braves Miracle Field of Rome will serve many potential uses in the Rome/Floyd county area outside of its Miracle League purposes such as: A wheelchair soccer league in the fall, a T-ball field for mainstream children throughout the year, part of hospital rehabilitation for patients in wheelchair training, a senior citizen softball league during the week and activities for special needs children during the school year.
