POWER REPLAY: West Virginia lost the series opener with Greensboro by a 12-5 final. Zack Von Rosenberg surrendered seven runs on three hits, a walk, and three errors in the top of the first. The Power managed to cut the deficit to two runs and trailed 7-5 after six innings, but the bullpen was short staffed due to three extra inning games earlier in the week and manager Gary Robinson was forced to use a position player to pitch during the final two innings. The Hoppers added five runs over the eighth and ninth to seal the win.

CALL IN THE INFIELD: Kevin Mort became the first Power player in nearly five years to pitch in a game. On July 23, 2006 while a Milwaukee affiliate, then manager Mike Guerrero used two position players, Brad Wilcutt and Tony Festa, to pitch late in a 10-2 loss against Lake County. Each player tossed a scoreless inning. Mort inherited two runner last night in the eighth and both would score. He also allowed a solo home run and holds a 4.50 ERA after two innings pitched.
