Weekly Update: Rapids Host Mexican Side Santos Laguna on Tuesday

SANTOS LAGUNA VISITS ON TUESDAY IN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: The Colorado Rapids will take on Mexican powerhouse Santos Laguna on Tuesday night in CONCACAF Champions League action, as both clubs aim to take control of the top spot in Group B. The Rapids' most recent result in the competition was a draw at Real España of Honduras on Aug. 23, which moved Colorado to the front of the group. SANTOS TO TRAIN AT DICK'S SPORTING GOODS PARK ON MONDAY NIGHT: Santos Laguna arrived in Denver on Monday afternoon, and will practice on Monday night at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. The Santos training session will run from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m., with the final 15 minutes of the practice open to media.

RAPIDS ADD GUADELOUPE INTERNATIONAL DEFENDER TO ROSTER: On Friday, September 9, the Colorado Rapids made their first roster change since April of this year by signing defender Miguel Comminges, a Guadeloupe international with experience playing professionally in France and England. Comminges joined the team for practice on Monday, and is eligible for Tuesday night's match against Santos in the CONCACAF Champions League. RAPIDS TO FACE TORONTO FC ON THE ROAD ON SEPT. 17: The Colorado Rapids (10-8-11, 41 points) will return to the site of the club's MLS Cup 2010 victory this Saturday to face Toronto FC (5-12-12, 27 points) at BMO Field, looking to bounce back after a difficult 1-0 loss at the LA Galaxy this past Friday. Saturday's match in Toronto kicks off at 11:30 a.m. MT and will be broadcast live on Altitude.

PLAYOFF UPDATE - RAPIDS IN WILD-CARD SPOT: The Rapids have just five games remaining in the MLS regular season, and currently sit in fifth place in the Western Conference. In the MLS Cup playoffs, the top three teams from each conference earn spots in the postseason, and the next best four teams qualify as Wild Cards. The Rapids currently occupy the second Wild Card spot, and would host Houston Dynamo in an elimination match to start the playoffs (if the season ended today).
