Philadelphia Union News Release

Chester, Pa. (September 12, 2011) - Philadelphia Union (8-7-12, 36 points) will end a three-game home stretch as they host Eastern Conference leader Columbus Crew (11-9-7, 40 points) on Saturday, September 17 at 7:30 p.m. EST. The match will be broadcast live from PPL Park on The Comcast Network with a 30-minute pregame show starting at 7:00 p.m. EST.

The Union earned two points last week after battling back to earn a 4-4 draw against New England Revolution on Wednesday, September 7 and following that up with a scoreless draw against the Portland Timbers three days later. Rookie goalkeeper Zac MacMath made his way into the starting 11 on Wednesday for the first time in his career, after Captain Faryd Mondragon broke his right ring finger during the team's visit to Salt Lake. Recently signed midfielder Freddy Adu scored the first goal of his Union career against New England, while Roger Torres and Sebastien Le Toux finished the job with one and two tallies, respectively.

The Crew visit Philadelphia only three days after meeting the Houston Dynamo at home. Columbus remain atop of the Eastern Conference with 40 points despite having lost their last two games against the Seattle Sounders and Toronto FC, conceding ten goals total.

The Union Reserves are also back in action on Sunday, September 18 when they host the Crew at 10:00 a.m. EST. Led by Coach Brendan Burke, the Union (2-6-1, 7 points) collected their second win of the season with a 2-0 victory over New England Revolution on Thursday, September 8.
