Sarnia Sting News Release
The Sting picked up 4 of a possible 6 points last weekend with wins against the North Bay Battalion and the Soo Greyhounds; both of which are in 2nd place in their respective conferences. In Friday night's win over North Bay, the Sting scored 5 times against one of the stingiest defences in the league.
Sunday afternoon's Teddy Bear Toss game was certainly one of the most exciting games to be played at the RBC Centre this year. With 13 goals scored in the game, 6 in the first period, and a dramatic shootout finish, fans were provided with plenty of entertainment on Sunday afternoon. A total of 2605 stuffed animals were collected when Sting defenseman, Anthony DeAngelo scored the coveted Teddy Bear Toss goal for the home side.
After playing 3 games in as many days last weekend, the Sting are set to do the same this weekend, starting on Thursday night at the RBC Centre. The Sting and the Knight's face off for the first time this year, with Sarnia just 4 points back of London for 3rd in the Western Conference.
The ceremonial puck drop on Thursday night will feature Mayor Mike Bradley, a representative from the game's corporate sponsor, Culligan water, and a student representative from each school participating in this year's Community Champions food drive. Fans are encouraged to bring their non-perishables to the game on Thursday evening.
On Friday, the Sting head to Kitchener to take on the Rangers for Friday Night Hockey on Sportsnet. Heading into the weekend, the Sting and the Rangers are tied for 6th in the Western conference with 32 points apiece.
Then, on Saturday night, the Sting take on the Peterborough Petes at the RBC Centre, starting at 7:05. Fans in attendance on Saturday night will go home with a 2014-15 Sting Signature poster, brought to you by Lambton Mall, Giant Tiger and BMO. For fans wishing to have their poster signed, the entire team will be at the Lambton Mall on Tuesday, December 16th from 6:30 - 8:00 PM for an autograph session and photo with Santa.
Sting Notes
8 of 10: Dating back to November 20th, the Sting have won 8 of their last 10 games, including a 6-game winning streak. Sarnia is now just 4 points back of 3rd in the tight Western Conference standings.
Nikita Korostelev : Korostelev leads the Sting with 33 points (14G, 19A) in 29 games played this weekend. Korostelev added 3 assists on Sunday and was named the game's first star.
Anthony DeAngelo : DeAngelo leads all OHL defenseman in points for the first time this season with 8G 22A for 30 PTS in 25 games this season. Last week, DeAngelo was invited to USA Hockey's WJC Camp and signed a 3 year entry level contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Taylor Dupuis : Dupuis improved to 10-4 on the season with 2 wins this past weekend. Dupuis has registered a win in goal for the Sting in 8 straight games.

Mitch Marner : Marner sits in 3rd in the OHL scoring race with 53 points in 29 games played. The draft-eligible winger is tied for the league lead in goals with 23.
Christian Dvorak : Dvorak sits in 10th in the OHL scoring race with 41 points (16G, 25A) in 27 games played. The centreman was taken in the 2nd round of the 2014 NHL Entry draft by the Arizona Coyotes.

Players to watch - Kitchener Rangers
Justin Bailey : Bailey leads the Rangers in both goals (15) and points (30) through 26 games with the club this season. Bailey was selected in the 2nd round of the 2013 NHL Entry draft by the Buffalo Sabres.
Ryan MacInnis: The Arizona Coyotes prospect has 24 points in 29 games with Kitchener this season.

Eric Cornel : With Nick Ritchie unavailable this weekend, Cornel will be a player to watch for the Petes. The Sabres' prospect has 25 points in 26 games this season.
Hunter Garlen t: Garlent has 21 points in 25 games for the Petes this season.
