IceDogs Getting in Holiday Spirit with Food Drive Friday and Teddy Bear Toss Saturday
December 9, 2014 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Niagara IceDogs News Release
With the holiday season right around the corner, the Niagara IceDogs have a pair of home games coming up this weekend where we will be looking to help out the less fortunate in our community.
First on Friday, the IceDogs will be partnering up with Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold for a food drive, as we play host to the CHL's number one ranked team, the Oshawa Generals. For the food drive, we ask fans to bring a non-perishable food donation to help out families in need this holiday season.
The game will be part of the IceDogs efforts in the Project Shutout Hunger campaign and to show our appreciation, the IceDogs will be giving all fans that bring a food donation a voucher that will allow them to purchase a ticket for the New Years Eve game for only $2!
The IceDogs will be right back at it at the Meridian Centre on Saturday night when they play host to the visiting Saginaw Spirit for their annual Teddy Bear Toss game! The always popular Teddy Bear Toss game sees fans bring new or gentle used stuffed animals to throw on to the ice when the IceDogs score their first goal of the evening. All the stuffed animals will be collected and donated to Victim Services Niagara, who will then distribute them to children throughout the Niagara region.
Once again as a special thank you, every fan that brings a stuffed animal to throw on the ice will receive a voucher good for a $2 ticket to the New Year's Eve game on December 31st.
The game will mark the IceDogs eighth annual Teddy Bear toss, with thousands of stuffed animals collected and distributed to children throughout the Niagara region over the past seven years. With your help, the IceDogs are hoping for a record number to be collected this year!
Please help the IceDogs brighten the day for those less fortunate by joining us this weekend and bring your food donations Friday and Teddy Bears on Saturday, as we help to give back to our community!
