December 9, 2014 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Peterborough Petes News Release
(Peterborough, ON, December 9, 2014)- The Peterborough Petes, in association with the Canadian Cancer Society Peterborough & District Unit, are reminding fans that Tuesday at 5pm is the deadline to submit custom names to be printed on the special commemorative jerseys to be worn by the Petes during the annual Pink in the Rink game on February 7.
This year, a special jersey design has been created to honour those affected by cancer. For a donation of $20 to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Petes will print the name of someone who has or continues to battle cancer, or who lost a fight to cancer, on each jersey.
There is space for just 300 names on the jerseys, and space is nearly out. Fans must make their donation by 5pm on Tuesday by emailing, faxing, or bringing the jersey name form in person to the Canadian Cancer Society Peterborough office or the Peterborough Petes office. Please note that phone orders cannot be accepted. In addition, fans will have the opportunity to bid on and purchase commemorative game-worn jerseys during a live post-game auction.
The 2014 Pink in the Rink campaign honourary chairperson is renowned sports anchor Dan O'Toole. He will be in attendance at the annual Pink in the Rink game on Saturday, February 7 against the Windsor Spitfires.
Commemorative fundraising scarves and t-shirts will also be available for purchase. Details surrounding the game night activities will be announced at a later date.
Through five years, the Petes and the Canadian Cancer Society Peterborough & District Unit have raised over $288,000 in the fight against various cancers. This year, the goal is to raise $62,000. The Canadian Cancer Society Office is located 730 The Kingsway, Unit 2, in Peterborough. Their fax number is 705-742-4027.
