Sault Ste. Marie, ON - The Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club has a busy weekend ahead, including some special "off-ice" events to conclude their regular season schedule.
This coming Saturday, March 16th (vs Kitchener), the Hounds will be hosting a pre-game ceremony to recognize Team Jacobs' victory at the 2013 Tim Hortons Brier.
The Sault Ste. Marie foursome became the first-team since 1985 to bring the Canadian Curling Championship Tankard back to Northern Ontario. Skip Brad Jacobs, third Ryan Fry, second EJ Harnden and lead Ryan Harnden will be joined by coach Tom Coulterman and special guests for the ceremony.
In addition, during the 2nd period this year's Relay for Life kickoff will take place with a "Pass the Bag" fundraiser with all proceeds going to the Canadian Cancer Society. While at the start of the 3rd period Foreverhounds.com Fan Forum will be presenting two fan-chosen awards to the winning Hounds players.
Then on Sunday, March 17th (vs London), the Hounds will honour the careers of their three overage players; Colin Miller, Brandon Alderson and Chris Buonomo.
The trio of Hounds have combined for 12 years and 678 games played in the OHL.
Prior to the game the three players will be joined by their parents (and billets) down at ice level. Fans are asked to be in their seats by 6:45pm, as the festivities will begin with a video presentation.
