IceDogs Drop Tough 5-2 Decision to Brampton

The Niagara IceDogs faced off against the visiting Brampton Battalion Thursday night and lost a tough game by a deceiving 5-2 final in front of a sellout crowd of 3,145 at the Gatorade Garden City Complex.
The IceDogs got off to a quick start as Steven Shipley scored on the powerplay to give the IceDogs a 1-0 lead. Shipley's goal was his IceDogs record 16th powerplay goal of the season. The Battalion were quick to respond however and tied things up just over 4 minutes later. Undeterred, the IceDogs continue to skate hard and would pick up their second goal at the 15:46 as Brett Ritchie would pick up his 41st of the season to make it 2-1. The first period would end with the same score as the IceDogs continued to lead 2-1. Shots on goal were 12-9 for Brampton.
The second period saw tempers flare as both teams battled hard for the duration of the period. With only one minute left to play in the period, the Battalion found the back of the net to tie the game up at 2-2- heading into the third period. Shots on goal favoured Brampton 12-7.
In the last period of the game, despite outshooting the Battalion 16-5, Brampton netted three goals to give the game a final tally of 5-2.
As tonight was the IceDog's last home game of the season, tickets for the Niagara IceDogs first two home playoff games (Eastern Conference Quarterfinals Game 3 & 4) will be available for sale to the general public starting this coming Monday, March 18th at 10am!
