
Warriors Defeat Bakersfield, Remain in Contention for the Division

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Warriors defeated the Bakersfield Jam 120-101 on Saturday night to improve to 33-14 on the season. Eight different players scored in double-figures in the victory, keeping the Warriors in the contention for the Division title.
Santa Cruz was led by Golden State Warriors assignment player, Ognjen Kuzmic, who recorded a double-double, notching 20 points and 17 rebounds. Darington Hobson contributed with 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists.
Bakersfield received a solid performance from Jerel McNeal who notched 25 points. Xavier Munford contributed with 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.
The first quarter saw a tight battle for control of the game, with both teams staying within an arm's length of each other throughout the entire opening frame. Santa Cruz would open their slight lead to larger margin of 12 points in the second quarter, but Bakersfield would rally back to come within two points of the Warriors heading into the break.
Santa Cruz and the Jam switched leads in the third quarter, but the Warriors would head into the final frame with the 89-85 edge. The fourth period saw Santa Cruz race ahead, outscoring Bakersfield 31-16 and leading by as many as 20 points.
The Santa Cruz Warriors will host the Texas Legends tomorrow night at 6:00 p.m. PST at Kaiser Permanente Arena.
