Moose Jaw Warriors News Release

Moose Jaw, SK - With their spot in the playoffs locked up, the Moose Jaw Warriors remain focused heading into the final weekend of the regular season.

"We want to finish on a high note," Warriors forward Jagger Firkus said.

The Warriors will finish the regular season with a road game against Prince Albert on Friday and then a home battle against Saskatoon on Saturday.

While the team has secured home ice advantage in the first round of the 2023 WHL Playoffs and hit the 40-win plateau, the Warriors are looking to use this weekend to get their game ready for the playoffs.

"It's a playoff mindset for sure, we started that a while back," Warriors head coach Mark O'Leary said. "It's about our puck management and it's about our checking, those areas have improved, we still have another step that we need to take before we start round one, but I like the trajectory that we're on."

The Warriors are coming off a big win on Wednesday night when the team went into Winnipeg and beat the ICE, finishing their season series against the league's top team at 3-2-0-1.

O'Leary said that win can be something for the team to build off heading into the playoffs.

"I was proud of our effort, we played a real strong game," he said.

"It can be something to push us forward... we know what we have in this room, we have a tight group, they're confident in their skills and when you can beat good team, it just reassures that."

Heading into the final two games, Firkus said the Warriors are staying in the moment.

"There's two more games left in the year, you don't want to be thinking too far in the future, these are big games for us," he said.

The Warriors will travel into Prince Albert to battle the Raiders on Friday.

"Our start is big for us, especially in Prince Albert," Firkus said. "They have an unique rink, so in that facility, you've got to be ready to play hard."

The Warriors and Raiders battle on Friday night at 7 p.m.

Moose Jaw will finish its regular season with YARA Awards Night at the Moose Jaw Events Centre on Saturday night. The awards ceremony will kick-off the night at 6:50 p.m. followed by one final battle against the Blades.
