Moose Jaw Warriors General Manager Alan Millar has announced that the team has acquired 17-year-old forward Justin Almeida, 18-year-old forward Yan Khomenko, a 5th round pick in 2017, and a 2nd round pick in 2018 from the Prince George Cougars in exchange for 18-year-old forward Nikita Popugaev.

Almeida, C, 5'10", 162lbs, is from Kitimat, BC and was originally drafted by the Cougars in the 1st round, 5th overall, in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft. In 37 games this season he has four goals and 13 points, in his rookie season last year he had two goals and six points and was the Cougars Scholastic Player of the Year.

He represented Team BC at the 2015 Canada Winter Games and had three goals and six points in six games. In 2014-2015 he played with the Cariboo Cougars in the BC Major Midget Hockey League and had 22 goals and 47 points in 48 games. In 2013-2014 with the North Shore Winter Club he had 80 goals, 67 points, and 147 points in 70 games and was the BC Hockey Now Player of the Year.

Khomenko, RW, 6'1", 175lbs, is from St. Petersburg, Russia and currently in his second season in the WHL. He was originally drafted by the Everett Silvertips in the 2015 CHL Import Draft and joined the Cougars in September. In 36 games this season he has ten goals, 20 points, and is a +11. In 2014-2015 he played with Dynamo U17 and had 20 goals and 30 points in 33 games.
