Walleye Notes
First team to 40 wins: a 3-0-1-0 week means that the Walleye are the first team this season to reach 40 wins in the ECHL. The 85 points Toledo is currently the tops in the ECHL, one better than the Florida Everblades. Since the start of January, Toledo has a record of 20-5-1-1.
Record tied and record set: By winning Friday night, the Walleye matched its all-time best home winning streak at 13 consecutive. The Saturday overtime defeat ended the long run that started on January 6 in a 3-0 win vs. Manchester. The overtime defeat did however set a new Walleye record for most consecutive home contests without a regulation loss at 14.
22 and counting: Saturday night's crowd of 8,200 marked the 22nd time this season that the Walleye have had a standing room only crowd at the Huntington Center, a single season record. Toledo is averaging 7,543 per contest and has seen 218,744 total fans so far this year.
Three in three home weekend: Toledo is home for a three game three day weekend starting Friday night against the Quad City Mallards. Toledo is 2-1-0 against the Mallards this year, including a 4-3 loss in Quad City the last time the two teams met. Sunday afternoon, the Indy Fuel will come to town. Toledo has run their record to 6-0-0-0 after this past Tuesday's 4-3 win in Indianapolis.
Promotional weekend: Friday night is Toledo Jeep Fest night at the Huntington Center followed by Zombies invading the arena on Saturday night. Toledo will wear special zombified jerseys in their matchup with the Quad City Mallards that will be auctioned off after the game with proceeds benefiting the Walleye Wishing Well and the American Red Cross. Celebrity Sunday features Spike's birthday bash sponsored by Meijer.
Walleye Player of the Week:
Simon Denis (1 goal - 6 assists = 7 points)
Walleye Goaltender of the Week:
Pat Nagle (2-0-1, 2.28 GAA, .901 save %)
