LAST WEEK - Wichita returned home this past week to host Fort Wayne and Idaho. The Komets scored with just over a minute to go in the third and held off the Thunder for a 5-3 win on Tuesday night. The Steelheads came to town for a pair of games last Friday and Sunday. Idaho won Friday night by the final of 5-2. Wichita came back on Sunday and held off a late barrage from the Steelheads for a 2-1 victory.
OVER THE HILL - Ralph Cuddemi has been Wichita's biggest offensive threat over the last month. He has points in six of his last seven games, recording 12 points over that span (5g, 7a). He hit the 50-point mark over the weekend, giving him back-to-back seasons reaching the 50-point plateau. Cuddemi is the first Thunder player to reach that mark since the 2014-15 season.
GAME-WINNER - Guillaume Lepine broke a 1-1 tie last night to help Wichita snap a six-game winless skid. Lepine netted his first game-winner and fifth goal of the season. He needs one more to tie a career-high.
HEY ROOK - Ryan Van Stralen has made an impact since turning pro earlier this week. He has three points (1g, 2a) in three games and collected a pair of assists on Sunday. He was also named as the Glass Rattler of the Game on Friday night.
LAMP LIGHTER - Kevin Dufour added his 13th goal in a Thunder uniform on Friday night. He has 17 goals and 36 points this season. The rookie out of Bowling Green State University has 26 points (13g, 13a) in 31 games since coming over from Brampton.
HIT THE ROAD JACK - Wichita plays once more at home this week and then begins its longest stint on the road this season. The Thunder will be away from INTRUST Bank Arena until March 30th, which equates to eight games away from home over a 19-day span. After this weekend in Tulsa, Wichita will head to Rapid City for a pair of games on March 16th and 17th. The Thunder continues their trip on March 20th at Kansas City, March 22nd at Kalamazoo, March 24th at Fort Wayne and finish in Allen on March 28th.
THUNDERBOLTS... Jeremy Beaudry is tied for third for power play goals by a defenseman (6)...Travis Brown is tied for 18th in scoring by a defenseman (10g, 21a) and second in the league in shorthanded goals by a defenseman (2)...Wichita is 19-8-1-1 when scoring first...Wichita is 17-3-1-0 when leading after one...Wichita is 20-3-0-1 when leading after two...Wichita is 17-13-1-1 when outshot by its opponent...
The Thunder closes a four-game homestand on Wednesday night against the Quad City Mallards at 7:05 p.m.
