TWO MORE DONE AGAINST LEAGUE LEADERS

The Swamp Rabbits trip south to Estero, Florida ended with a point earned on Friday night. Greenville opened the scoring with goals in the first and second periods to take a 2-0 advantage. Shane Walsh and Guillaume Naud each beat netminder Callum Booth but the Everblades settled down in the second half of the contest. Florida tied the game before the third period but were halted by Brad Barone in goal with 14 saves in the third period to force overtime. John McCarron earned the 3-2 overtime win for the 'Blades.

Greenville battled the first place Everblades again on Saturday. Florida opened the game with three quick goals before Brenden Kotyk answered with a power play tally. McCarron tallied another for Florida in the second period before Daniel Echeverri cut into Florida's advantage. Goaltender Martin Ouellette earned his first career win over Greenville with 22 saves while Mitchell Heard collected his first career hat trick in the 6-2 finish.

The defenseman's homecoming to Estero, Florida was one that featured a team leading two points on the weekend. Echeverri assisted on the opening goal Friday night and followed up the point with his first ECHL goal on Saturday night. The rookie blue-liner has tallied four points (1G, 3A) in ten games with the Swamp Rabbits and earned a plus-2 rating during the pair of games against the Everblades. The Colombian born skater grew up in the Fort Myers, Florida area and attended Florida Gulf Coast University, playing five seasons for the Eagles. The 5-foot-9 blue liner has played 99 pro games and earned 51 points (21G, 30A) in two seasons between the ECHL and SPHL.

RABBIT TAILS

Greenville's overtime finish on Friday night was the second game in club's last four contests that pushed to extra time.

Goaltender Brad Barone made a career high 40 saves on Friday.

Guillaume Naud and Daniel Echeverri both recorded their first ECHL goals over the weekend.

Defenseman Brenden Kotyk scored his seventh goal of the year on Saturday, pushing to sixth among all rookie blue liners.
