
Walleye Lose to Cincinnati in Overtime 7-6

(Cincinnati, OH)- Bryan Rufenach collected a goal and an assist, but the Walleye lose 5-2 to Wheeling. Toledo is 17-22-2-2 on the season and 7-11-2-0 away from home.
Toledo would jump in front of the Cyclones with a strong first period. Forward Todd Griffith would score his first goal in a Walleye uniform at 3:46 of the first. Adam Estoclet and Kyle Page assisted on the goal. At 4:24, Kyle Rogers would collect his 14th goal of the season to make it 2-0 Toledo. Joey Martin and Andrej Nestrasil assisted on the captain's goal. After the Cyclones scored to make it 2-1, Toledo would get a goal from Andrej Nestrasil at 13:17 of the first. Credit Martin and Rogers with the assists on Nestrasil's fourth goal of the season.
"We came out with outstanding energy to start the game tonight," said Head Coach Nick Vitucci. "Unfortunatly we let them come back tonight with some goals we should never had allowed." The scoring would continue in the second period as Kyle Rogers would score his second goal of the game at 4:29 of the second (Martin, Nestrasil). Harrison Reed would score his first of two goals on the night at 6:00 (Griffith, Estoclet). That goal would chase Cincinnati goaltender Chet Pickard. The Walleye would make it 6-1 at 12:27 when Reed scored his 10th goal of the season (Estoclet, Page).
The Cyclones would score a power play goal and a shorthanded goal before the period ran out for a 6-3 Toledo lead after two periods. The Cyclones came alive in the third period and scored with just 46 seconds left to tie the game at 6. Cincinnati would win the game in overtime when Matthew Sisca blasted a shot past Rob Nolan 1:07 of overtime.
Walleye Notes: Walleye goaltender Rob Nolan finished with 25 saves and is 9-11-3-0 on the season. Forward Joey Martin extended his point streak to seven games. The six goals ties a season high for the Walleye set back on November 20th against Cincinnati (6-3 win). The Toledo Walleye will return home on Saturday February 4, 2012 against Kalamazoo.
