Toledo has found it difficult to light the lamp in 2011-12, scoring just 116 goals this year (2.8 per game) - which ranks third-worst in the ECHL. Walleye captain Kyle Rogers is the team's leader offensively, posting 27 points (13 goals, 14 assists) in 42 games. Meanwhile, rookie Joey Martin ranks tied for ninth among all ECHL first-year players with 26 points (12 goals, 14 assists) in 33 games. Rob Nolan has taken the reins in goal for the Walleye since being acquired from Chicago. In total, Nolan has amassed a 9-11-2 record with a 3.18 goals-against average.
About Sunday Afternoon in Chicago: The Express erased a two-goal deficit and rallied to beat the Cyclones in a shootout by a 3-2 final score in front of 2,131 at Sears Centre. Mike Pelech and Matt Sisca both scored goals for Cincinnati in a losing effort.
Feeling February Love: Historically, the Cyclones have been extremely successful in the month of February. Over the past there seasons, the Cyclones have compiled a 22-12-4 record in "Cupid's Month." Their best February record ever came in 2009-10 when they went a staggering 9-2-2. This February, Cincinnati will play 17 games in 29 days - their busiest one ever.
No Need for Nail Clippers: The Cyclones have found themselves in closely-contested battles all season long. Nearly 66 percent of their games have been decided by two-goals or less, including eight of their last ten games. In such situations this year, the Clones are 10-9-0-6.
Four Is a Lucky Number: The Cyclones have been nearly perfect when eclipsing four-goals per game...amassing a 10-1-0 record in such situations. Similarly, when holding their opponents to less than four goals, Cincy is 14-6-0-2.
