York Revolution News Release

Chris Wallace lined a two-run walk-off home run to left field, giving the Sugar Land Skeeters a 3-1 victory over the York Revolution on Saturday night in front of 7,163 fans at Constellation Field. After being forced to wait a night due to rain, York's two-game winning streak is halted, while Sugar Land snaps a three-game skid. The Skeeters now sit 1.5 games in front of York for second place, as the series continues on Sunday afternoon.

York struck for the game's first run in the top of the second as Andres Perez ripped a one-out double down the left field line and scored on Johan Limonta's single up the middle for a 1-0 lead.

Revs starter Mike McClendon retired nine of his first ten batters, but Travis Scott connected on a solo home run down the right field line leading off the bottom of the fourth, tying the game at 1-1.

McClendon allowed no further runs, going a season-high 7.0 innings to join Shawn Hill as the only two Revs starters to go 7.0 innings in a game thus far. McClendon allowed seven hits, walked none and struck out four. He has now walked just one batter while striking out 17 over 21.2 innings in his four starts.

The Revs were unable to do any further damage against Sugar Land starter Matt Wright who allowed one run on five hits over a season-high six innings. He walked one and struck out four while also hitting two batters.

York's best chance to retake the lead came in the sixth when a Bryan Pounds walk and a Brandon Boggs single put runners at the corners with no outs. Wright rebounded to record a fielder's choice grounder with Pounds thrown out attempting to score, as the right-hander would go on to escape unscathed.

Six Sugar Land relievers combined to hold the Revs off the board the rest of the night. York stranded a season-high-tying 12 runners in the game, half of which were in scoring position (all at second base).

Out of the York bullpen, Stephen Penney fired a 1-2-3 eighth against the top of the Sugar Land order. Leyson Septimo struck out Denny Almonte looking to strand Wallace after a two-out bloop double in the ninth, forcing York's first extra-inning game of the season. Beau Vaughan dodged a pair of two-out singles for a scoreless tenth, striking out Delwyn Young looking to send it to the 11th.

Beamer Weems worked a leadoff walk to start the home half of the 11th inning. York reliever Shawn Teufel came back to strike out Dustin Martin swinging, but Wallace followed with the walk-off shot to end the night.

The runs snapped a 9.2-inning scoreless streak for Teufel (0-1) who was touched for a run for the first time since April 29. It is just the second time in 10 appearances that the opposition has scored against him.

Andrew Carpenter (1-0) picked up the win for Sugar Land with a scoreless top of the 11th. To start the inning, Carpenter walked Limonta who advanced on Salvador Paniagua's sacrifice bunt, but Carpenter came back to retire the next two batters, keeping the game tied.
