
Walk-Off Win Helps Aviators Avoid Sweep

LOVES PARK, IL- The Rockford Aviators (24-29) presented by Pearson, avoided the sweep against the Schaumburg Boomers (30-24), as they walked off in the tenth inning, and won 4-1.
Joey Wagman made his first start for the Aviators since appearing in the Frontier League All-Star game earlier in the week. He was excellent all the way up to the ninth inning.
Wagman pitched into the ninth inning and allowed two solo shots that were the only blemishes of his night. Wagman pitched nine innings, allowing six hits and three runs, while tying his career high and striking out eleven Boomers.
Seth Webster got the start for the Boomers. He pitched 6.1 innings, allowing 7 hits and three runs.
The Boomers pushed a run across in the fourth inning to give them a early 1-0 advantage.
The Aviators answered back in the fifth inning. Tanner Witt hit a RBI sacrifice fly that brought in Kyle Dhanani and tied the game 1-1.
The Aviators scored twice in the seventh inning. Kyle Dhanani hit a double, and Tanner Witt hit a single that brought Dhanani in to give the Aviators a 2-1 lead.
Jeff Kremer added a RBI double that increased the Aviators lead to 3-1.
Alexi Colon hit a solo shot for the Boomers in the ninth inning to cut into the lead 3-2. Gerard Hall followed with a solo shot of his own to tie the game at three a piece, which forced extra innings.
The Aviators walked-off in the tenth inning. After back to back singles from Corcino and Kenny Bryant, Tyger Pederson hit a single to bring in a run and end the game.
The Aviators will begin their series with the River City Rascals on Monday night at 6:05 p.m. This is the night to bring the noise! We want to pack the house with WIFR to make the atmosphere very tough on our opponent.
