June 14, 2016 - Florida State League (FSL1)
Clearwater Threshers News Release

Threshers third baseman Mitch Walding has been honored as the Florida State League's Player of the Week for the period spanning June 6th to the 12th.

Walding is coming off a week in which he went 9-for-20 in six games for a .450 average, including two home runs, four RBIs, four runs scored, and two walks. It is the second time this season Walding has been named the FSL's Player of the Week, as he was also honored for his performance in the stretch of games from April 7th through the 17th.

The 23-year-old is in the midst of a breakout campaign, and is currently tied for third in the Florida State League in home runs (9), is second in slugging percentage (.490), and is tied for third in RBIs (33). He has already surpassed his previous career-high of seven homers set back in 2014 while with the Lakewood Blue Claws.

On Monday, Walding was also added to the Florida State League North All-Star roster, becoming the ninth Thresher named to represent the best of the North in the midsummer classic to be played at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers on Saturday, June 18th. Walding joins teammates Alexis Rivero, Thomas Eshelman, Elniery Garcia, Chace Numata, Zach Green, Scott Kingery, Carlos Tocci, and Cord Sandberg as FSL All-Stars.

Walding was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the fifth round out of St Mary's High School (CA) in 2011.
