
Yankees, Mets Trade Shutouts in Double-Header Split

TAMPA, Fla. - The Tampa Yankees (40-23) shutout the St. Lucie Mets (31-31), 5-0, before St. Lucie returned the favor, 10-0, in a double-header split on Monday night at George M. Steinbrenner Field.
Josh Rogers (W, 4-3) shined in the opener, tossing his first-career complete game in a seven-inning shutout. The southpaw scattered three hits, two walks and a hit-batter, striking out four. Rogers threw 66 of his 90 pitches for strikes.
Tampa broke a scoreless tie with four runs in the third off St. Lucie starter Chris Flexen.
Wes Wilson doubled to the wall in right and advanced to third as Jorge Mateo legged-out a bunt single. Devyn Bolasky drove in Wilson with a sacrifice fly. One out later, Flexen walked three-straight Yankees, forcing home Mateo. Jake Skole followed with a two-run single before the inning ended on his caught-stealing.
Flexen (L, 4-6) allowed four earned runs on four hits in a season-low two and two-third innings, surrendering three walks and a hit-batter while striking out one.
Tampa tallied its fifth run with back-to-back doubles by Bolasky and Miguel Andujar off RHP Jimmy Duff in the fifth.
The teams reversed roles in game two.
Scarlyn Reyes (W, 3-7) recorded a season-high 11 strikeouts over six scoreless inning for the Mets. The right-hander worked around five hits and two walks and threw 64 of his 96 pitches for strikes.
St. Lucie loaded the bases with no outs in the first. A fielder's choice by Amed Rosario allowed the first run to score before Will Carter escaped further damage.
A pair of singles and a hit-batter reloaded the bases to begin the second and Carter walked the next three Mets batters. RHP Jordan Foley entered and induced a double play and a fly out to end the inning.
Carter (L, 0-1) allowed six runs earned runs on three hits in his inning plus. The righty walked five, hit one batter and struck out one in his shortest outing of the season.
The Mets tacked on a run off Foley in the third. Tomas Nido walked and later scored on a groundout by Jhoan Urena. Foley retired the final six batters he faced in three relief innings.
RHP Gabriel Encinas surrendered a trio of runs in the fifth. Champ Stuart chipped in an RBI single. Urena drove in a run with a double and later scored on a wild pitch.
Encinas rebounded with a scoreless sixth and RHP Joey Maher tallied a zero in the seventh.
RHP Mike Hepple worked around a pair of singles in the seventh, striking out one to complete the shutout for St. Lucie.
Austin Aune (2-for-4, 2BB, R) reached base four times in the two games combined. Bolasky (4-for-6, RBI, R) led Tampa in hits. Zack Zehner (1-for-3, 3B) hit his second triple.
The series continues on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. LHP Ian Clarkin (5-5, 3.51 ERA) is scheduled to start for Tampa against RHP Andrew Church (0-0, 6.75 ERA) for St. Lucie.
