Waldichuk Continues to Post Zeroes as Gades Win

BROOKLYN, NY - Ken Waldichuk extended his scoreless innings in 2021 to 14.1 on Saturday. The lefthander allowed one hit while striking out 10 over 4.1 innings as the Hudson Valley Renegades beat the Brooklyn Cyclones, 5-3, on Saturday.

Reliever Charlie Ruegger was the first out of the bullpen and he was awarded the win to even his record at 1-1. The righthander from Morris Plains, NJ allowed a run on two hits while striking out five in 2.2 innings of work. Tanner Myatt finished the day, allowing two runs on two hits over two innings.

Eduardo Torrealba went 4-for-4 for Hudson Valley and drove in a run. Oswald Peraza had two hits, including a double to give the Gades the lead in the visiting third. Ezequiel Duran followed with a two-RBI double that opened up a 3-0 lead. Frederick Cuevas drove in the other run for the Gades as they led 5-0 after four.

The Renegades sit at 9-8 on the season, while Brooklyn drops to 6-10. Brooklyn starter Cam Opp took the loss on the mound to fall to 0-1.

The two teams finish the six-game series tomorrow at Maimonides Park. The Renegades return to the Hudson Valley on Tuesday to open a set with Jersey Shore.
