PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Pensacola Blue Wahoos have added three new players to their bullpen for the second half of the season. RHP Hector Nelo, RHP Fabio Castillo and LHP Scott Maine are set to join the Wahoos as they take on the Jacksonville Suns in their second home series of the second half of the season.

Nelo earned Southern League All-Star honors in 2013 with Double-A Chattanooga; he went 5-2 with a 2.67 ERA over 45 appearances that season. Nelo pitched with the Lookouts this season before his release in early June. Nelo had a 1-0 record and a 6.97 ERA through 31.0 innings pitched in 2014. The right-handed pitcher signed on with the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs of the Independent Atlantic League and pitched in two games for them in June. Nelo is a former 15th round pick by the Texas Rangers and has also pitched in the Nationals' organization.

Maine is a former major leaguer who made 50 appearances from 2010 to 2012 for the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians. He has a 5.59 ERA as a big leaguer with 48 strikeouts compared to just 25 walks. Maine has appeared in 19 games this season for Bridgeport in the Independent Atlantic League; he's 2-3 with a 4.95 ERA over 20.0 innings of work. The left-handed pitcher was originally drafted in the 6th round of the 2007 Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Maine was traded to the Cubs in the offseason before the 2010 season with infielder Ryne White for RHP Aaron Heilman.

Castillo pitched in 18 games for Double-A Bowie this season, amassing a 5.14 ERA over 28.0 innings. The Rangers signed him out of the Dominican Republic in 2006 and he reached as high as Triple-A Round Rock in 2012. Castillo spent 2013 pitching in the Giants system for Double-A Richmond and Triple-A Fresno, going a combined 6-7 on the season with a 5.34 ERA. The righty was selected as an Arizona Fall League Rising Star back in 2010.

Wahoos' RHP Carlos Gonzalez is headed to the disabled list with a right forearm contusion. Gonzalez is 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA with Pensacola over the second half of the season. The reliever posted a 0.57 ERA over 26 appearances with High-A Bakersfield during the first half of the season. Gonzalez was hit by a line drive comebacker in the final game of the series in Chattanooga.

RHP Brooks Pinckard has also been placed on the disabled with a lower back strain. Pinckard is 1-1 with a 5.67 ERA over 21 appearances with the Wahoos this season.

RHP Elvin Ramirez has been transferred to Triple-A Louisville. Ramirez is 0-2 with a 5.14 ERA on the season with Pensacola.
