Voyagers Rally in Ninth to Top Mustangs, 8-7

GREAT FALLS, Mont. - The Billings Mustangs (21-11, 36-34) were dealt their fourth straight loss on Saturday, falling 8-7 to the Great Falls Voyagers (16-15, 31-37) in front of 1,379 at Centene Stadium.
The game got off to a hot offensive start as the Mustangs scored three runs on four hits in the top of the first. Quincy McAfee led off the game with a double down the left field line and scored on Victor Ruiz' RBI single two batters later. Reniel Ozuna then doubled in two runs to make it a 3-0 Mustangs lead after the top of the first.
Great Falls bounced back with two runs in the bottom of the first on two hits and two errors. Lency Delgado singled up the middle to score two runs and cut it to a 3-2 Mustangs lead.
Billings held two separate three-run leads in the game and were unable to hold either.
The Mustangs scored in four consecutive innings to open the game, tallying 11 of their 16 hits in that time. The 16 hits was the third-most in a game by Billings this season.
Patrick Raby and Ryan Dunne each threw perfect relief to help hold a 7-6 lead into the bottom of the ninth for the Mustangs. 10 straight Voyagers were retired between the fifth and eighth innings.
Francis Peguero blew his third save of the season on Saturday, giving up two runs on three hits in the ninth. Peguero hit the first batter he saw, the first hit batter for the righty since June 22. With two outs and men at second and third, Delgado lined a game-tying single to right and Sam Abbott singled right behind him for the walk-off win for Great Falls.
Quincy McAfee went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and a walk. Victor Ruiz finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI.
The Mustangs' lead in the North Division remains at three games with six left to play.
The Mustangs and Voyagers will play in game three of their four-game series Sunday, Sept. 1. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. MDT at Centene Stadium.
