West Sacramento, Calif. - A home run by third baseman Jason Vosler and a team-high 10 strikeouts by righty Tristan Beck (3-6) were not enough to lift the Sacramento River Cats (37-48) to victory as they fell 5-2 to the Albuquerque Isotopes (40-45) in Tuesday's series-opener.

A two-out three-run double in the fourth spoiled an otherwise excellent outing by Beck, as the 26-year-old struck out six Isotopes swinging, and four looking in 5.0 innings.

Down 4-0 in the fourth, Vosler got Sacramento on the board when he lined a solo homer into the bullpen (101.7 exit velocity) for his ninth home run of the season.

The River Cats threatened in the seventh, scoring a run and putting the tying run on first with two outs for center fielder Heliot Ramos.

First baseman Jason Krizan initiated the rally with his second triple of the season before two two-out walks loaded the bases for second baseman Donovan Walton, who promptly singled Krizan home.

Albuquerque righty Julian Fernández was able to limit the damage and escape the jam, however, forcing Ramos to line out with the bases loaded, two outs, and a full count.

The River Cats have yet to announce who will open their bullpen game on Wednesday. The TBD will take on righty Ashton Goudeau (0-3, 12.46) at 12:05 p.m. (PT). Listen to Johnny Doskow call the game online at rivercats.com or on the MiLB First Pitch app.

Additional Notes

Right-hander Kervin Castro continued his impressive stretch, striking out two while allowing one hit in 2.0 shutout innings. The 23-year-old has nine strikeouts and a 0.75 WHIP in 8.0 innings since June 19.

Righty Jeremy Walker and lefty Joey Marciano struck out two each in an inning of work, giving Sacramento 16 total on Tuesday.

Krizan finished the day 2-for-4. The 33-year-old is 27-for-72 (.375) with 16 runs, nine doubles, two triples, a home run, 14 RBIs, and a 1.002 OPS since June 2.
