Volpe, Dunham, Chrinos Homer in Gades' Loss to Claws

Two pitchers combined to scatter 10 hits on Friday night as the Jersey Shore BlueClaws doubled up the Hudson Valley Renegades, 8-4, at Dutchess Stadium.

Victor Vargas allowed five hits and one run over six innings to pick up his second win of the year. Aidan Anderson went the rest of the way, allowing home runs to Anthony Volpe, Elijah Dunham, and Roberto Chirinos en route to his fourth save of the year.

Chirinos had three hits to raise his batting average to .571 (4-for-7) with the Renegades.

The Renegades had a 1-0 lead after one inning but Jersey Shore proceeded to score in every inning from the second until the sixth. Hudson Valley starting pitcher Edgar Barclay took the loss (0-1) allowing three earned runs over 3.1 innings.

The lead grew to 8-1 in the eighth before the three home runs. Volpe hit one out to left in the eighth while Dunham and Chirinos both homered in the ninth.

The Renegades (55-33) now trail Greensboro by a full game in the hunt for the second playoff spot. Hudson Valley and Jersey Shore meet in the fifth game of the series on Saturday at 6:30.
