Volcan gave Seattle a 2-1 lead at 17:39 in the third. Volcan picked up a bouncing puck off the backboards and stashed a one-timer. Matthew Wedman and Kubicek both recorded assists on the play.
Thunderbird Tyrel Bauer committed a checking from behind penalty at 18:09 in the third, giving the Silvertips a late 6-on-4 opportunity as Wolf was pulled for the extra attacker, opening the door for one last flurry of Tips scoring chances that fell short.
