The Northwest League's hottest offense continued its torrid pace of late, collecting 11 hits and seven runs in a 7-3 victory over Vancouver on Monday evening. Salem-Keizer put the finishing touches on a five-game sweep of the Canadians, sweeping a five-game series on the road for the first time since 2007.

The Volcanoes (15-11) have now won six straight games away from Keizer and have a share of the hold on first place in the Southern Division. Vancouver (8-18) sits on the other end of the spectrum, now having dropped nine straight.

After Steven Duggar scored on a wild pitch to get Salem-Keizer on the board in the first inning, Vancouver quickly got to work off of Volcanoes starter Nick Gonzalez. In the left-hander's only inning of work, the C's used three hits, two walks, and a stolen base to claim an early 2-1 edge on the visitors.

The Volcanoes, however, ensured that Vancouver's slim lead would be short-lived, reeling off six unanswered runs over the middle part of the ballgame. In the third inning, Brad Moss tripled for the first time in his three-year minor league career and came in to score on an RBI single by Duggar, knotting the score at two. Two frames later, Miguel Gomez drove in Junior Amion on a go-ahead RBI double.

Holding a 3-2 lead in the seventh, Salem-Keizer broke the game open with four runs on four hits. Moss singled and Amion doubled to put two runners in scoring position for Gomez, who added two more tallies to his team-leading RBI count with a single. Julio Pena added insurance with a two-RBI single to run the Volcanoes lead to 7-2.

While Salem-Keizer's offense did the heavy lifting, the bullpen kept the Canadians quiet through the majority of the contest. Eric Sim tossed two scoreless innings, Luis Pino (1-0, 0.00) threw up four more zeroes, and Jarret Leverett tossed a scoreless eighth before Ryan Halstead surrendered a meaningless ninth-inning run.

Salem-Keizer got revenge on Canadians starter Clinton Hollon (1-2, 3.94) who defeated the Volcanoes on opening day back in Keizer.

Four Volcanoes players recorded multi-hit efforts, headlined by a two-hit, three-RBI performance from Gomez, who saw his batting average climb to .352.

Player of the Game: Miguel Gomez is no stranger to the award, leading the Volcanoes offensive efforts once again with two hits, three RBIs, and a run scored.

Up Next: After their first off day of the season on Tuesday, the Volcanoes return to Keizer for a three-game set with the Boise Hawks. Salem-Keizer's Logan Webb (3-1, 3.96) will oppose Hawks right-hander Angel Lezama (1-1, 6.16). Boise is coming off of a 4-1 series loss to Everett. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
