The Volcanoes added four new faces this past week while losing two players to promotion. Infielders Chase Compton and Richard Rodriguez were both promoted to Augusta on Monday as they continue their professional careers. Compton had been on a tear of late, collecting hits in nine of his last 11 games. He was hitting .308 with a home run and four RBIs for Salem-Keizer so far this season. Rodriguez played sparingly but was a slick defender when he did take the field, posting the third best fielding percentage on the team.

The Newcomers

Mac Marshall - @macmarshall19 - Marshall was a fourth-round selection in the 2015 Draft out of Chipola College, a junior college in Marianna, Florida. The left-hander was drafted by the Houston Astros in last year's draft out of high school but elected to attend LSU instead. He later transferred to Chipola in order to enter the 2015 Draft before being selected 126th overall by San Francisco. He made his Volcanoes debut on July 9 at Vancouver, allowing a three-run homer in three innings of work while striking out five.

He's yet to allow a run in 5 1/3 innings of work since debuting for Salem-Keizer on July 8.

Kevin Rivera - A 14th-round selection in the 2014 Draft, Rivera is a product of the Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy in Florida, Puerto Rico. Primarily a second baseman, he's spent the past two seasons with the Arizona League Giants before joining Salem-Keizer on July 14. He was playing well for the Giants so far this season, hitting .317 with three doubles and a triple in 14 games.

Scott Price - @TheRealSprice - Now in his second season, Price also joined Salem-Keizer on July 14. He's spent time with the Arizona League Giants, Low-A Augusta and High-A San Jose so far in his professional career. An undrafted free agent out of the University of Tennessee, Price hit .256 with 12 RBIs between the three levels last season. He was 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI in two games with the Arizona League Giants this season before earning the promotion.
