Vipers Sign Former Major Leaguer

The Calgary Vipers announce today they have signed former Major League pitcher Jorge Vasquez to a Golden Baseball League contract. The veteran right hander appeared in nine games in the big leagues with the Kansas City Royals and Atlanta Braves. Recently the Dominican Republic native and New York resident has spent the last three years playing in the Mexican "AAA" league after nine seasons in affiliated baseball with four different Major League organizations. During his career the 31-year-old has struck out an impressive 761 batters in 648 innings.

The Vipers continue their season long road trip which will see the team play ten games in the 11 days as the team travels to Victoria to take on the Seals on Monday June 21st, Tuesday June 22nd, Wednesday June 23rd, and Thursday June 24th all at 8:00 PM MDT. The Snakes are currently one game behind the Chico Outlaws for first place in the North Division.

The Vipers return home to Calgary and Foothills Stadium on Friday June 25th at 7:05 PM MDT against the Victoria Seals. On Saturday June 26th the two teams will play a double-header starting at 1:35 PM MDT and it will be Kid's Day at the ballpark where the Inflatamaniacs will perform along with Clowns and Magicians.

On Tuesday June 29th and Wednesday June 30th at 7:05 PM MDT the Vipers will host the Edmonton Capitals for a two-game series. After the game on the 30th the Vipers will host a Canada Day Fireworks Spectacular.

The Calgary Vipers will be hosting 2 to 1 Clinics for Ages 8-14 on Monday July 12th, Tuesday July 13th, and Wednesday July 14th from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM MDT. Each participant will be paired up with another child and one of the Vipers players for two hours of individual instruction and a live one hour game.
