Tucson Toros News Release

Tucson AZ - The Tucson Toros outslugged Chico Outlaws Thursday night as the offense fueled a 13-6 victory thanks in part to a 6-run 4th and a 5-run 5th inning.

Chico jumped out to an early lead on the Toros as they scored 3 runs in the 1st, including Chico Catcher Mike Rose's solo shot to straight away center for his 7th on the season.

After the Outlaws scored two more runs in the 4th to extend their lead 5-1, the Toros would come charging right back in the bottom half of the 4th. The home club batted around and racked up 6 runs that helped turn the tide of the game with the help of 2 RBI singles by both CF Josh Womack and 3B Wally Backman Jr. along with LF Lino Garcia's 2-RBI double to make it 7-5 Tucson.

It would not stop there as the Toros went full steam ahead when in the 5th they added 5 more runs to extend their lead 12-5 with Catcher Luis Apodaca and Rightfielder Francisco Plasencia both driving in 2 runs. Plasencia's RBI are his first ever with the Toros.

The Toros would finish the game with a 13-6 victory that tied the series up at 1 game-a-piece. Toros LHP Matt Lincoln was awarded the win, his first of the season, while Outlaws' LHP Demetrius Banks got the loss.
