Edmonton Capitals News Release

Victoria, BC - The Edmonton Capitals picked up their first win on their current eleven game road trip Saturday night in Victoria. They shut out the Seals with a convincing 8 - 0 victory to follow up a disappointing loss in the series opener. Caps first basemen Tom Collaro had the big night at the dish batting 4 for 5 with a pair of two-run home runs in the contest. He racked up a total of five RBI and now leads the team with 21 plus he leads the Caps with five home runs this year.

Alexander Francisco and Yosandy Ibanez combined for the four hit shutout. They only walked one batter and struck out five along the way. Edmonton's record improves to 14 - 11 and they move back to within five games of first place Chico in the Golden Baseball League's North Division.

The series will wrap up Sunday in Victoria. The Caps will have stops in Chico, St. George and Calgary to round out the road trip before returning home for a Canada Day tilt against the Calgary Vipers.
