
Vipers Sign 14 Home Run Man

The Calgary Vipers have signed infielder C.J. Ziegler to a 2011 North American League contract. The right handed bopper started the season with the Lake County Fielders and has posted the most home runs in the North Division with 14 thus far. The 6'5" 240 pounder is also fifth in the division in runs batted in (39), tenth in batting average (.340), third in walks (31), first in slugging percentage (.688), and third in on-base percentage (.463). Last year the Tucson, Arizona resident played in the Independent Frontier League with Traverse City and clouted 13 big flies. Originally the 25-year-old was drafted in the 37th round by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2007 and again drafted in 2008 by the San Francisco Giants in the 16th round out of the University of Arizona. Ziegler spent two seasons in the Giants organization reaching high "A" ball.
Tonight, Thursday July 14th at 6:30 in Calgary at Foothills Stadium the Vipers wrap up a three game series against the Edmonton Capitals with Dan the One Man Band performing.
The Calgary Vipers will be hosting three Women's Pro Fastpitch games between the USAA Pride and the Tennessee Diamonds August 2nd, 3rd and 4th at 6:30 at Foothills Stadium. Tickets are $16 for the Lower Bowl and $12 for the Upper Bowl. Three game packages are also available for $45 and $33. In addition there will be two skill clinics August 2nd and 4th from 10am - 12pm. Cost is $99 for a Clinic and Lunch or $120 for the Clinic, Lunch and two Lower Bowl tickets. There will also be a Lunch Banquet August 3rd including an autograph session with both teams and a lower bowl ticket to the August 3rd game for $49.95 with keynote speaker Cheri Kempf, the Commissioner of the NPF and an ESPN analyst.
