ZION, IL - In an error plagued game at Fielders Stadium on Wednesday night, the Chico Outlaws emerged victorious 10-5 over the Lake County Fielders, evening their seven game series at one game apiece.
The teams combined to commit 10 errors in the game, six by the Fielders. Seven of the fifteen runs scored were unearned as a result.
The Outlaws fell behind 3-1 after the first inning, but took control soon after. Chico got one back in the second on a Kurt Steinhauer RBI single and scored three unearned runs in the third to take the lead for good. Danny Gonzalez's RBI double highlighted the inning.
Chico tacked on single runs in the fourth and fifth innings, as Steinhauer delivered another RBI single. A three run-eighth put the nail in the coffin. Adam Buschini drove in one with a run scoring single.
Jay Pecci reached base in all six of his plate appearances (three singles, hit by a pitch twice, and one walk) and scored three runs. Steinhauer, Buschini, and Chris Lubanski all had two hits for Chico.
John Dziamba, Brad Payne, Chris Brown, and David Coleman all had two hits for Lake County.
Kyle Wilson made his Outlaws debut and pitched the first four innings, allowing five hits, four runs (two earned), with one walk and two strikeouts. Travis Kane (3-3) pitched two shutout innings of relief to earn the victory.
Ryan Gunderson (0-1) started for Lake County and struggled with his control, walking five over just two and one third innings. He gave up three hits, five runs (one earned), and struck out two. Mike Luke pitched five and two thirds innings of relief for the Fielders, surrendering seven hits and five runs (four earned).
