
Vipers Can't Find Three-Point Stroke in Loss to Jam

HIDALGO, Texas- Four Jam players scored in double figures as they broke a four game losing streak to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers dating back to last season's playoffs in a 105-97 victory Friday night at State Farm Arena. The Vipers (7-6), who are 6-0 in the first half of back-to-back sets, fell to 1-5 in the second half of back-to-back sets with the loss. The Jam are now 7-4 on the season.
The scoring in the first quarter was low as the Jam led 24-18 after the the first 12 minutes. The two teams traded the lead seven times in the first half. The last two of which occurred midway through the second period. With the Vipers down one, Suleiman Braimoh hit a three-pointer to put the Vipers up 38-36 with 4:53 remaining in the half.
The lead was short lived as Jeremy Wise nailed a three of his own on the next Jam possession to put them up 39-38 with 4:19 to play in the half. That lead change was the final one of the game. The Jam closed out the half on a 9-3 run and lead 55-46 at the intermission.
The Jam led by as many as 16 points in the second half and the Vipers would not get closer than five points the remainder of the game in the eight point loss at home. The Vipers are now 4-3 at State Farm Arena.
Major, Patillo and Osiris Eldridge each scored 20 to lead the offensive output for Bakersfield. Patillo had the game's lone double-double as he added 11 boards. Mustapaha Farrakhan added 15 while Jeremy Wise chipped in with nine and a game high eight assists.
Julian Sensley was the top scorer for RGV with 19 points, adding seven boards. Braimoh added 17 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Ashton Mitchell also scored 17 with seven assists. While Marshall Brown scored 15 with eight boards.
The Vipers hit the road for a three game road swing to ring in the new year. The Vipers next game will be on December 29th in Frisco against the Texas Legends. The Vipers then face the Maine Red Claws on New Years Eve and New Years Day. Tip-off for the match-up against the Legends is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
