December 23, 2011 - NBA G League (G League)
Maine Celtics News Release
PORTLAND, ME - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Quirk Chevrolet, today announced that 7-1 center Mike Tisdale and veteran guard Antonio Anderson have rejoined the team after being waived by the Philadelphia 76ers and clearing NBA waivers. Both players are expected to be in the lineup tonight as the Red Claws host the Iowa Energy. To make room for the returning players, the Red Claws have waived Evan Fjeld and Maze Stallworth.
In three games this season, Anderson, who is in his third season and second with the Red Claws, averaged 8.0 ppg before earning the invite to the 76ers' camp. 2011 marked the 3rd time Anderson has been invited to an NBA camp. In 2010, he was invited to training camp by the Houston Rockets, and in 2009 the Charlotte Bobcats extended the invitation. The 6-6, 220 lb. shooting guard out of Memphis, also earned two NBA GATORADE call-ups during his rookie season by Oklahoma City, appearing in one game for the Thunder.
Tisdale, a rookie, averaged 3.5 ppg in four games before the heading to Philadelphia for training camp. The 7-1, 235 lb. center was a four-year standout at Illinois before entering his first pro season.
Tisdale and Anderson were among 12 current or former Red Claws invited to NBA training camps, including five players from this season. Kenny Hayes was waived by the Cleveland Cavaliers yesterday and Durrell Summers was waived by the Charlotte Bobcats today. Should both players remain unclaimed, they could rejoin the team on the road when the team faces the Canton Charge in Ohio. Rookie forward Chris Wright remains in camp with the Golden State Warriors. The NBA will make final cuts tomorrow before opening the 2011-12 season on Christmas Day.
