
Victoria too Much for Rockets

The Victoria Royals defeated the Kelowna Rockets 6-1 on Friday night in Victoria.
It took until 16:36 of the first frame but Dante Hannoun(22) gave Victoria a 1-0 lead on a Royals power play that they took into the first intermission.
Matthew Phillips(40) gave the Royals a 2-0 lead on another power play at 9:28 of the middle frame. Just under two minutes later Dillon Dube(24) cut into the Royals lead, but Igor Martynov(16) responded right back for the Royals to regain the two goal cushion. Phillips(41) scored his second of the night late in the second to make it 4-1 Royals and they held that lead into the third.
Tyler Soy(28) made it 5-1 Royals early in the final frame. Victoria added one more power play goal late in the third to take it 6-1.
Brodan Salmond's record falls to 7-7-0-1 after stopping 21 of 25 shots he faced. James Porter started the third period in Salmond's relief and stopped 13 of 15 shots he faced. Kelowna and Victoria were even 40-40 in shots.
Kelowna's record falls to 33-17-3-1.
These two clubs go back at it tomorrow night once again in Victoria with puck drop going at 7:45pm.
