Victoria, BC - The Victoria Royals scored a powerplay goal in each period and were led offensively by Tyler Soy (1g-3a) as the club bested the Kelowna Rockets 6-1 on Friday night.

Notes:

The Philly Show - Royals' captain Matthew Phillips skated in his 200th WHL contest tonight and recorded a pair of goals. Phillips (41g-49a) is now one point away from tying the Royals' record for most points in a single season, which was set in the 2015-16 campaign when alumnus Alex Forsberg earned 91 points (31g-60a).

Home Cooking - Tonight's win marked the eighth straight home victory for the Royals. In those eight wins, Victoria has outscored their opponents 44-18. Of the Royals' remaining 16 games, 11 are on home ice.

Staying Hot - A pair of Royals' skaters extended their point streaks tonight. Phillips has points in 16 consecutive games and has registered 31 points (13g-18a) during that span, while Tyler Soy has tallied 12 points (5g-7a) in his last four contests. Phillips is a game away from tying the franchise record for longest streak, which he set himself earlier this season when he tallied 34 points (15g-19a) in the team's opening 17 contests.

Goals Galore - Victoria has managed to tally four or more goals in 14 of their previous 16 games. During that span the team holds a record of 12-4-0-0 and have averaged 4.43 goals per game.

Island Guys - The Rockets have a trio of players that hail from the Vancouver Island area. Ted Brennan is a product of Victoria, while Kyle Pow and Kyle Topping call Nanaimo and Salt Spring Island home respectively.

Next Up - The Royals continue their three-game series with the Rockets tomorrow night at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. The two teams will then travel to Kelowna and battle it out on Monday, February 12th.
