KENT, February 10, 2018 - The Portland Winterhawks defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-1 Saturday night at accesso ShoWare Center in front of 6,058 fans.
The two teams will play at Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Sunday. Puck drop is at 5pm. The game will be televised on JOEtv on Channel 22/Cable 110 in Seattle. Ian Furness and Andy Johnson will have the call of the game.
Portland (34-18-1-3) took a 1-0 lead seven seconds into the second period on a power-play goal from Cody Glass.
The Winterhawks extended the lead to 2-0 at 8:37 of the second when Keoni Texeira scored.

Just after a Portland power play ended Ryan Hughes scored from the right circle at 13:11.

Seattle (27-19-6-2) cut the Winterhawks lead to two goals at 4:40 of the third period on Graeme Bryks first goal as a T-Bird. Owen Williams passed the puck up the right wing to Noah Philp. Philp carried the puck into the offensive zone and then crossed it to Bryks at the top of the left circle. Bryks beat Portland goalie Cole Kehler over the glove. Bryks was called up today from the Spruce Grove Saints of the AJHL.
The T-Birds pulled goalie Liam Hughes for an extra attacker with 1:40 left in the game. Portland's Skyler McKenzie scored an empty-net goal at 18:43 to seal the win for the Winterhawks.
Seattle outshot Portland 29-28 in the game.

Hughes had 24 saves on 27 shots and his record is now 10-7-3-1.
Kehler had 27 saves on 28 shots and his record is 26-13-1-3.
