Forward Seth Leonard was activated from the seven day injured reserve, while Forward Steve Roberts continues to nurse an injury in Victoria. Roberts was joined by Forward Jan Sochor on the IR before the trip to Utah. Goaltender BJ Boxma made the trip east, as did the Salmon Kings emergency third Netminder Lance Mayes. Week in Review

Friday October 28, 2005 - @ Utah Grizzlies - 8-5W
Saturday October 29, 2005 - @ Utah Grizzlies - 6-3L

Breakdown

Friday October 28, 2005 - @ Utah Grizzlies - 8-5W
Before the fifteen minute mark of the first period Friday, the Salmon Kings had chased starting Grizzlies Goaltender Justin Eddy, and had taken advantage of his replacement Alfie Michaud three times, for an early four goal lead. But the goals came in bunches and the Salmon Kings were not celebrating for long as the Grizzlies mounted their comeback late in the opening twenty minutes. By the halfway mark of the second period Utah had tied the game at four. The Salmon Kings and Grizzlies would trade goals late in the second period to send the teams to the intermission locked a five. The Salmon Kings took the lead for the final time in the game when Adam Taylor recorded his first professional goal at 7:15 of the third period. Victoria's Dustan Heintz and Lanny Gare added some insurance in the goal fest. The Salmon Kings other goal scorers on Friday were Mike Wirll (2), who recorded Victoria's first two goal game, Steve Lingren, Pete Gardiner and Ryan Wade.

Saturday October 29, 2005 - @ Utah Grizzlies - 6-3L
The see-saw battle in Utah continued in game 2 on Saturday. The Grizzlies opened the game quickly taking a two goal lead on the Salmon Kings. The second period was all Victoria's though as they came back to score three unanswered. First on board for Victoria was Mike Wirll, recording his team leading third of the season, before Lanny Gare and KC Timmons' notched their second of the season giving the Salmon Kings a 3-2 lead after forty minutes. As was the story on Friday night the goals came in bunches, so the team to score first in the third period seemed most likely to pot a few. Unfortunately for Salmon Kings fans it was Utah who broke the ice in the final period. The Grizzlies tied the game up early in the final frame, before taking the lead halfway through the period. The dagger in the heart came quickly as Utah's Salmon killer Matt Craig, scored just seven seconds after Utah's game winner. Craig notched back to back three point nights against the Salmon Kings. An empty netter for Utah capped the scoring and Victoria left West Valley City, UTA with a win and a loss.

Looking Ahead

The Victoria Salmon Kings will spend the next couple of days in Seattle, WA awaiting a flight to the east coast on Tuesday. Victoria has a busy week ahead as they will play four games in four cities in five nights. The Salmon Kings fifth game of eight straight on the road to start the season will take place in New Jersey against the 2004-05 Kelly Cup Champion, Trenton Titans. Victoria will then play in Dayton, OH on Friday, Toledo, OH on Saturday and finally Wheeling, WV on Sunday afternoon.
