Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings and the Utah Grizzlies skated for the second straight night on the ice of the E-Center in West Valley City, Utah. Just 3:28 into the first period James Laux opened the scoring for the Grizzlies on the powerplay. Seven minutes later the Grizzlies replied again on Barett Ehgoetz second goal of the season, from Matt Craig.

The Salmon Kings trailed 2-0 going into the second period and it only took 2:08 for Victoria to cut the lead in half. Mike Wirll notched his third of the season by picking up an abandoned puck in the slot and sending it home.

Vernon, BC native Lanny Gare scored his second goal of the season for the Salmon Kings on the powerplay, tying the game at two half-way through the second stanza. Defenseman Steve Lingren earned an assist on the goal to continue his four game scoring streak.

Then at 17:12 Victoria took the lead for the first time in the game on KC Timmons' second goal of the season. Timmons goal was assisted by Gare and Adam Taylor. The Salmon Kings took the 3-2 lead into the second intermission.

But the third period was all Grizzlies. Utah scored four unanswered goals beginning with back-to-back powerplay markers, first from Jeff Miles, and then Ehgoetz recorded Utah's game winner on his second of the night. Craig then gave his Grizzlies some insurance with his fifth of the season, beating Salmon Kings Goaltender Rob Muntain at 10:26 of the third period.
