
Vettleson Hits Seventh Homer in Loss

The Harrisburg Senators outhit the New Britain Rock Cats on Friday night, but the Rock Cats came away with the victory, 5-1, at New Britain Stadium.
Seven of nine Senators' starters recorded base hits in the game, headlined by Drew Vettleson's solo home run in the top of the eighth inning. Cutter Dykstra (2-for-5) and Kevin Keyes (2-for-5) both doubled, but the other nine Senators hits were singles. Ricky Hague (3-for-4) and Cole Leonida (2-for-4) both recorded multi-hit games for Harrisburg. The Senators were 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position with 13 men left on base.
Senators' starter James Simmons endured a rough start by allowing four runs in the first inning before settling down to allow just one other run in his four innings of work. Only three of Simmons' five runs allowed were earned. Neil Holland followed with two scoreless frames. The sidewinding right-hander has not allowed a run in 11.1 innings since returning to Harrisburg from AAA Syracuse. Derek Self worked out of a bases loaded, one out jam to pitch a scoreless seventh before firing an easy eighth.
Tomorrow night the Rock Cats and Senators will play a doubleheader beginning at 6:05 p.m. John Simms and Brian Dupra are the probable starters for Harrisburg. New Britain will send Jose Berrios and Virgil Vasquez to the mound.
