
Vancouver Sends Two Players to Kalamazoo

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the ECHL, two-time defending North Division Champions, reigning Eastern Conference Champions and National Hockey League affiliate to the Vancouver Canucks and New Jersey Devils and American Hockey League's Albany Devils, announce the Canucks have reassigned forward Steven Anthony and defenseman Taylor Ellington to the K-Wings.
Entering his rookie season, Anthony was a 7th round (187th selection overall) of the Vancouver Canucks in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
For the past four seasons, Anthony has played Junior hockey for the Saint John's Sea Dogs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), including last season where he produced 60 points (23 goals, 37 assists) to help Sea Dogs to capture the Memorial Cup championship.
Like Anthony, Ellington is also was selected in the NHL Entry Draft by the Canucks. Ellington is a third-year pro that was selected by Vancouver in the 2nd round (33rd selection overall) in the 2007.
Last season, Ellington had a shortened season playing just 14 games with the Victoria Salmon Kings. During his rookie campaign, the native of Victoria, British Columbia, split the season playing the Salmon Kings and the AHL's Manitoba Moose.
Before turning pro, Ellington played five seasons of Junior hockey with the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League (WHL).
In separate transactions, the K-Wings have release goaltender Jared DeMichiel and defenseman Blake Miller.
Kalamazoo will open the regular season at Wings Stadium versus the Cincinnati Cyclones with a 7:30 p.m. face-off this Saturday, October 15th.
The K-Wings will host a FREE (no game ticket needed) indoor pregame and postgame tailgate party with live music from Drop 35. Prior to face-off, the K-Wings will also raise their 2010-11 North Division and Eastern Conference Championship banners.
Single-game tickets for the upcoming 2011-2012 season are on sale at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office. Ticket Office hours are Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. For more information, please call Wings Stadium Ticket Office during regular business hours at (269) 345-5101.
Tickets for all K-Wings home games are $12.90 and $16.90 for adults, $11.90 for seniors (62 years and older) and military (with proper ID) and only $6.90 for kids ages 12 and under. The price for all K-Wings premium night games (all colored ice games and New Year's Eve game) are just $1 more. Fans can save money by purchasing K-Wings single game tickets in advance because tickets purchased on the day of a game increase by $1.
