Idaho Steelheads News Release
(Boise, ID) - Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Hardy Sauter announced Wednesday that the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads have signed forward David Fredriksson and released forward Greg Beller.
With the transactions, Idaho has 21 skaters and two goaltenders on its roster. League-approved Opening Night rosters will be announced on Thursday.
Fredriksson will be getting his first taste of North American pro hockey after spending the rest of his career in his native country of Sweden. The 26-year-old winger first appeared in the Swedish Elite League, one of the top levels of pro hockey in the world, at the age of 18 in his home town of Jonkoping in 2003. Last season, he scored six goals and added nine assists in 43 games for Tingsryds AIF in Sweden. Fredriksson was a 7th-round selection of the St. Louis Blues in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft and went to training camp with the AHL's Texas Stars earlier this fall before arriving in Idaho.
Beller appeared in one preseason game for Idaho, not registering any points or penalty minutes. The University of Manitoba product had eight goals and 14 assists in 22 games last season in his final college campaign.
Steelhead Season-Ticket Holders get six games FREE when they sign up for full-season packages. Plans for all 36 home games start at just $275 per seat. Partial-season plans are also available, with the home-opener coming on October 15 against the Utah Grizzlies.
