Vancouver ends Eugene's 14-game win streak; McQuail pounds pair of homers

(PK Park - Eugene, OR) - A pair of towering home runs from LF Steve McQuail helped the Vancouver Canadians (12-8) end a five-game losing streak with a convincing 11-1 victory over the Eugene Emeralds (17-3) who saw their Northwest League record 14-game winning streak come to an end in the series finale.

The Emeralds jumped out to an early lead when Canadians starter RHP Taylor Cole walked both CF Kyle Gaedele and 1B Zach Kometani before giving up a double to C Matt Colantonio that helped Eugene to a 1-0 lead.

Vancouver's offense finally took flight in the top of the 3rd inning sending eight hitters to the plate, chasing Eugene RHP James Needy in the process. The C's would score a trio of runs that included a hard hit single from 2B Jon Berti that scored C Garrett Maines giving Vancouver their first lead off the night.

The Canadians offense went into overdrive in the top of the 7th inning sending eleven hitters to the plate scoring a season-high seven runs which included a three-run home run off the bat of LF Steve McQuail that brought home both 1B Randy Schwartz and DH Roan Salas.

McQuail would extend the lead to 11-1 when he hit his second home run of the night, and fifth of the season.

With the victory, Vancouver improves to 12-8 (.600) on the season, while the loss drops Eugene to 17-3 (.850).
