Boise Hawks News Release

BOISE, Idaho - Paul Hoilman and Jose Guevara each hit two-run homers, as the Boise Hawks won their fourth in a row, topping the Everett Aquasox, 9-5, before 2,119 fans at Memorial Stadium.

The win for the Hawks extended their home win streak to eight games and moved to 13-8 on the season - the first time they have been five-games above the .500 mark since Game 33 of last season.

The Aquasox took an early 1-0 lead in the first, as they loaded the bases with no outs, plating a run on a Jim Wood double-play ball. Boise would come back an inning later, tying the score on a Wes Darvill run scoring single.

The Hawks would take the lead for good in the fourth on a Travis Garcia RBI double, then add to the lead in the sixth, scoring a pair of unearned runs on a throwing error. Everett would cut the margin to 4-2 in the seventh on a Mario Yepez RBI double, but Boise would bust the game open in the seventh, as Rafael Lopez lined an RBI single, followed by a long blast from Hoilman to push the lead to 7-2.

Guevara would hit his first homer since 2007 in the eighth to give Boise a 9-2 lead, and the Hawks would need them, as Everett added three runs in the ninth - but Jose Rosario would get Danny Lopez to fly out to end the game.

Ben Wells allowed just one hit in five innings of work to log his second win of the season, with Rosario tossing the final four innings for the save. Garcia went 2-for-4 in the win for the Hawks, as eight different Boise batters had at least one hit.

Everett lost for the third-straight night, but got multi-hit games from Patrick Brady and Yepez.

Game 2 of the series is tomorrow night, with Yao-Lin Wang meeting Stephen Kohlscheen at 7:15 p.m.
