Van Slyke, Silverio, and Eovaldi Honored

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Southern League of Professional Baseball Clubs has announced that OF/1B Scott Van Slyke, OF Alfredo Silverio, and RHP Nathan Eovaldi have been named to the 2011 Southern League Postseason All-Star Team. Their selections were voted upon by the league's field managers, radio broadcasters and print media.

Van Slyke currently leads the Southern League with 44 doubles and a .346 batting average. He also ranks amongst the Southern League leaders with 20 home runs (tied-4th), 92 RBIs (2nd), 155 hits (3rd), .422 OBP (2nd), .596 SLG% (2nd), 68 extra-base hits (2nd), 267 total bases (2nd), and walks (61).

Additionally, the 2011 Southern League All-Star Game MVP has hit over .300 during each month this season, including posting a .429 clip during the month of August.

Silverio, who represented the World Team and hit a home run in the 2011 XM Futures Games, is hitting .304 (7th in the Southern League) with 15 homers, 42 doubles (2nd), 17 triples (1st), 157 hits (2nd), 74 extra-base hits (1st), 87 runs (2nd), 278 total bases (1st) and 11 stolen bases on the season. Also, he was selected as the TOPPS Southern League Player of the Month for June.

Eovaldi, who is currently with the Los Angeles Dodgers, went 6-5 with a 2.62 ERA in 20 games, including 19 starts, for the Lookouts. In 103 innings, he yielded 76 hits and 46 walks, while striking out 99. He also was selected and played in the 2011 Southern League All-Star Game. He is currently 1-2 with a 3.46 ERA in five starts for the Dodgers.
