JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville Suns centerfielder Kevin Mattison was named to the 2011 Southern League Post-Season All-Star Team, announced by the Southern League of Professional Baseball on Wednesday morning.

Mattison, who was also a 2011 Southern League Midseason All-Star, was named to the team as the "Best Hustler." The All-Star Team was voted upon by the league's field managers, radio broadcasters, and print media.

Mattison has had a career year in 2011, and with five games left in the season he is batting .266 with eight homers and 49 runs batted in. For much of the season, Mattison led the league in stolen bases, and is now in second with 37. Mattison saw a great first half at the plate hitting .295, and for a strong month of May where he hit .348 with three homers and 17 RBI, Mattison was named as the Florida Marlins Minor League Player of the Month.

In addition to his Post-Season All-Star recognition as the "Best Hustler," in the league, Mattison was selected as the "Fastest Baserunner," in the league according to Baseball America earlier this month. Mattison has anchored the leadoff spot in Jacksonville's batting order for much of the season, and as the catalyst of the Suns offense he is third in the Southern League with 86 runs scored in 2011.

Mattison and the Suns have Wednesday off before welcoming in the Jackson Generals for a five-game series at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville beginning on Thursday afternoon. Right-handed pitcher Joey O'Gara (7-9, 4.43 ERA) will pitch for Jacksonville while right-hander Andrew Carraway (9-5, 3.46 ERA) will pitch for Jackson. Thursday's game will start at 1:05 p.m. ET, and fans can listen to the contest beginning at 12:50 p.m. with the U.F. & Shands Pregame Show on www.jaxsuns.com.
